About PeopleScreening
PeopleScreening, LLC. provides tools to make recruiting human capital more cost effective. Through their modern approach to the recruiting process, PeopleScreening, empowers the Job Candidate and the Recruiter with the tools to provide employers with decision making information.
When employers receive decision making information, the interview process gets drastically reduced.
Why spend the time on the phone with the candidate if they have already answered the interview questions, introduced themselves via video and provided you with a complete resume.
Objective Provide a leading-edge resume service that directly benefits both Job Seekers and Employers through the use of the latest technologies.
The following documents our genesis. It takes you through the first 5 weeks of our company and gives you a little insight into how we came to be.
Week 1
Day 1: Team Meeting to discuss features and functions, document required steps to launch product and set benchmarks and milestones. Begin competitive research.
Day 2: Called contacts in the recruiting and HR arena to discuss project, group now referred to as "Advisory Board". Gained insight into the recruiting and HR fields. Team meeting to determine service name options and acquired the name PeopleScreening.com. Set up email boxes. Had designer start on logo and color scheme. Continued competitive research.
Day 3: Contacted virtual-pbx vendor to arrange for service phone numbers. Spent a couple of hours on auto-attendant script and required "departments". Vertical Answer starts check for vanity toll free number...something with people or screening
Day 4: Launched static web "splash" page. Completed initial competitive research. Determined specific service differentiators based upon competitive research and "Advisory Board" input. Started on Software Requirements Specification (SRS).
Day 5: Team approval on final logo design & color scheme. Update web page with new look.
Week 2
Day 1: Continued work on Software Requirements Specification (SRS). Began work on site template and Software Design Specification based on draft SRS.
Day 2: Same as Day 1. Sent in Fictitious Business Name application should be able to open a Bank Account in a week or 2.
Day 3: Team meeting to discuss progress. SRS "completion" imminent, SDS proceeding with database design and general architecture. Determined that Linux would be the best option using PHP and MySQL backend.
Day 4: Contacted best of breed hosting company for pricing based upon required configuration. RackSpace has a very good reputation and with limited Linux Admin skills on staff, managed hosting is the best solution.
Day 5: Vertical Answer emailed with a list of available vanity toll free numbers today. RackSpace sent over a proposal and SRS is completed. A lot to review this weekend. SDS and database design should be done by Monday or Tuesday.
Week 3
Day 1: Called RackSpace to negotiate a better deal, done. Hosting service should be online in a day or two. Called Vertical Answer didn't like any of the vanity options so far, set up local numbers and auto-attendant as well as voicemail for team. Continued on SDS and Database design.
Day 2: Reviewed some site templates, not bad. SDS completed & database design "completed" (will continue to be in flux until release). Spent day reviewing both
Day 3: Began software development! Received AD and stamped copy of Fictitious Business Name (FBN) statement. Asked designer for business card designs.
Day 4: Began looking for complimentary services for partnering opportunities. Met with developers and determined that our initial release date needs to be pushed back by two weeks -- there was a little scope creep from our original project timeline.
Day 5: Development continues. Met with Banker to setup checking account using FBN. Farmers and Merchants Bank of Long Beach Torrance Branch. Called attorney discussed Trademark and patent possibilities. We all left early -- all except for the developers.
Week 4
Day 1: Development continues. Installed required packages on the RackSpace environment. Had some core functionality to test! Determined more cost effective to find a hosting partner for video than develop from scratch. Contracted with Industry TV for video services. This will reduce our development time...or at least cause us not to slip.
Day 2: Development continues. Tomorrow will be the end of the first week of development. They have made amazing progress. Calls to complimentary service companies go mostly unanswered and unreturned. My assumption is that once we have a Beta version it will be much easier to talk to people.
Day 3: End of the first week of development and I think we may finish the Beta 1 version by the end of the week. We shaved at least 1 to 2 weeks off our schedule by partnering with Industry TV. We all have started testing various modules and are very impressed with the ease of use.
Day 4: Development and testing continue. We advise our Advisory Board that we are ahead of schedule and may need their help a couple of weeks early, possibly as early as the middle of next week. PeopleScreening Bank checks arrive. Very impressive, it's like a real company now! Business Card design arrived today from the designer will be ordered by tomorrow.
Day 5: Development and testing continue. Applying for a credit card under the People Screening name. Ordered Business Cards from GotPrint.com (around $60 per 1000 -- full color front and back with rounded corners!) Developers state that they want to wrap a few things up over the weekend.
Week 5
Day 1: I got an email from GotPrint telling me that the cards should arrive by Wednesday. Developers inform us that they are "done" pending any bug fixes and enhancements. I arrange a teleconference for Wednesday with the Advisory Board. We all go out for a celebratory lunch at 2 PM that lasts until, well dinner.
Day 2: A little groggy. We all continue testing. A few minor issues are encountered and resolved and regression testing continues.
Day 3: We all continue testing with good results. I walk the Advisory Board through the service and I ask the Advisory Board and ask if they can spare some cycles to review the product as it stands and provide feedback both from a feature and function perspective but also from a content perspective. They all agree and agree to provide feedback by Friday. Business Cards don't arrive.
Day 4: We all continue testing and compile a wish list for the next version. Business Cards Arrive!!! I contact a few complimentary service providers and ask if I can send them an email with a link to our new service. I send 4 emails out each one honing my pitch.
Day 5: We get really good email feedback from the advisory board. We compile all of the recommendations into a master list and work our way through it. Easy things that are recommended by more than one person go right to the top of the list. Of the 22 items about half were implemented by the end of the day today! Of the remaining 12 items about half of those will be placed on a wish list and the other 5 will be implemented after initial beta release. We set up an initial pay-per-click ad campaign with Google and Yahoo set for Monday start date. Monday we'll also start pushing into other low-cost markets as well . . .
